A Blast From The Past

Woke up this morning to an email from someone who drives a RV like mine with the exception of 1 year difference in make. Have corresponded with Kathryn in the past; however, it's been over a year since we last exchanged emails.

Since purchasing Yoda III I've searched online for other owners -- finding only 2 (Dynamax discontinued the line in 2005) and it's been great getting to know Kathryn. In the past 13 years she has clocked over 200K miles and last year did her Alaskan Adventure. I am impressed with the 200K mileage and hope the same for me.

Been binge watching Falling Skies for the past 5 days -- on Season 4 now. It is GREAT to watch a program with no commercials -- thank you Amazon FireTV and Kodi addon.  My bill arrived from Comcast xFinity without the cable and dropped over $100. Did sign up for CBS All Access for $6.81 monthly.

Florida is humid, hot and DRY.... We need rain!  Even the green weeds have turned brown.

Step back -- Regroup Time

Florida is humid and hot and it's still March... I can close my eyes begin to day dream about cooler Canada and Alaska temperatures. Looking at the countdown clock - 64 days to go!

Others have expressed interest in tagging along on this adventure which has created a new project for me. Trying to fit several types of traveling and agendas into one trip. Looking back to the beginning of planning one thing was clear to me -- I would never be put in the position of "WagonMaster" again or the one creating the routes, finding campgrounds, etc. by myself.  A good thing to remember... and once I did, it's time to step back and regroup for this trip.

My goal for 2017 is this Alaskan Adventure, not be on a time table or be restricted financially to enjoy everything it offers. Instead of trying to find others to join me in my adventure perhaps looking in groups like Escapees and Wandering Individuals Network for others with plans in the works already. It's a start........

Stay tuned....

Don't want to wish my life away, but....

Sitting here thinking, "Oh, how I wish it was time to head out for Alaska." Not to wish the rest of March, April and May away but, just the thought of climbing in Yoda's seat and heading away seems like a faraway dream.

Of course, there are things planned between now and then I'm looking forward to. Gonna leave in a couple weeks for at least a month in North Carolina. I love spending time on The Richardson's Farm at Lizard Lick with family and friends. Watch Rosie and Shane (great niece and nephew) grow a little more (ages 5 and almost 2). Then there are things I am not looking forward to -- time for a colonoscopy! Maybe visit my doctor for blood tests to see if using tumeric and Ceylon cinnamon  (in raw form) for the past 90 days show any changed results. You read so much it's hard to know what works for you ....or not!

Tumeric is supposedly an anti-cancer agent as well as a powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant. Cinnamon can lower blood sugar levels, reduce heart disease risk factors, and has a plethora of other impressive health benefits. My routine is  1/2 teaspoon of tumeric and 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, along with a teaspoon of raw organic honey, in my first of coffee each morning.

Got to always do maintenance on the ole body in order to maintain traveling as I age on into the sunset.

Oh well, just thoughts of the day! Time to get up and do something constructive!

Amazon - My New Best Friend

In the past 6 weeks I bet Amazon deliveries a package to my house at least once every 3 days!  With no shipping cost (Amazon Prime) why not order -- I get items never found locally and at great prices. Today, an action camera and accessories are expected.  For those who don't know, these camera are small like a Go Pro and can fit on vehicle windshield or motorcycle helmet. Why an action camera? My goal is to create a 30 minute video/movie of the Alaska Adventure using an editor.

On a side note, this is the week Comcast Cable will end at the house. Have put up a small roof top antenna (pulls in about 12-15 local channels), and purchased Amazon FireTV for everything else. Instead of Comcast costing about $200 monthly for cable and internet the bill will be about $80 for high speed internet plus $99 annually for Amazon Prime.

Chicken....or not... of course, we are!

Today I'm researching Vimeo videos with end result of taking videos to embed in this blog and a couple on Facebook. Don't want to use YouTube (which forces advertising on video).  Michelle and I are still tossing around routes -- want to see Chicken, AK and wondering about the road between Dawson City, Yukon Territory (highway 9 - Top of the World - Taylor Highway) and Chicken.

Gosh, looks like spending 3 or 4 months in Alaska is needed -- so much to see and do. Do we go to the Arctic Circle? Just how far north.... questions, questions, questions... only to be answered when we get there I suppose.

I'm so excited... only 2 months and about 20 or so days!!!

We going to Alaska....

After much consideration, my Rving buddy Michelle and I decided this is the year for RVing to Alaska. Also decided to use a different avenue for blogging so this Looking4Yoda@blogspot.com was born. Goal is for me to leave around June 1st and head to Tennessee to meet up with Michelle. One or two others are considering coming along but, we'll see how that pans out.

Michelle and I did about 8 weeks seeing the Northwestern USA late last summer -- our traveling style compliments each other. It's gonna be a great trip!!  For the next 86 or so days, there will be lots of research (MilePost) on possible routes and places to see, spend April in North Carolina visiting family and friends, have a couple medical appointments and get Yoda III ready to roll.
