Raining, Raining, Raining

It's been raining softly for 2 days in North Carolina, lots of flooding in downtown Raleigh and outlying areas. Reminds me of when I lived here for 40 years. Got my Midland handheld CB and Wilson antenna over the week-end now waiting on the SWR meter to arrive (then have Ronnie show me how to tune the antenna).

Jane has been busily getting reflectix measured and cut for the windows in her truck topper reminding me to do this for the bedroom area windows in Yoda III. My "to do" list is growing for the 2 weeks I'll be in Florida before heading out on the trip.

Got the results from my colonoscopy and looks like I'm gonna start having it done every 3 years now -- drats!!!  Was in hopes of another 10 or maybe 5 year waiting period.  As we age things change and body maintenance becomes paramount for healthier living. Next hurdle is my bladder cancer annual checkup May 25th.

36 days and counting down....

Easter Time

The weather is beautiful in North Carolina as I continue to enjoy my visit here. Yesterday was Easter and it was spent with family... church, out to eat then an afternoon nap. I would love to see our church filled every Sunday as it is on Easter.

Only 44 more days until The Adventure begins, Jane and I touch base every couple of days with updates on how we are preparing for the trip. My "to do" list is research then purchase a CB unit and antenna. Will get someone in Live Oak, when I return home, to help me run the cable from antenna inside cab.

This morning I'm looking at my proposed USA route headed to crossing the border in to Canada. From Live Oak, Florida to crossing the border in Montana is about  2,460 miles. Jane and I plan to meet around Wall, SD (1,750 miles from Live Oak). There is a beautiful boondocking area there for us to spend a couple days getting to know each other and plan our trip.

Time for my great nephew to arrive and play.... Little Shane is 20 months old with the cutest dimples.

Throwing It To The Wind....

Happy Sunday and it is a BEAUTIFUL day in NC, absolutely Springtime at its best. My sister gave me a copy of The Story - the Bible as one continuing story of God and His people (selections from NIV) to read then listen to videos about each chapter. Thought to myself.... just another "Bible Book" and was pleasantly surprised to really enjoy chapter 1. Am going to look forward to this study!

My Alaskan travel partners have fizzled out.... toyed with the idea and doing it alone. Don't mind the driving alone (traveled solo, as a software trainer, for a decade all over the USA). It's just there are times you (I) want companionship to enjoy the view with from time to time. Just when I was at the point of putting the trip off to 2018.... met (Facebook travel group) Jane!  And Jane is excited as I am about heading North to Alaska (she has a son and family living there).

So, as I told my friend Michelle.... Am throwing it to the wind..... if she goes with me, I will go. If she drops out then the Powers That Be will guide me to something else and not Alaska. That's it.... DONE.... FINISHED!

Posting from Lizard Lick, NC

Drove to North Carolina (SUV not RV) Sunday to spend April and probably first week in May here visiting family and friends. Left Florida when I was 21 moving to NC and stayed 39 years living in Lizard Lick, Raleigh and Wake Forest.

In 2012, moved back to Florida and shuttle between NC and Florida as I love both places. Spend November through 1st part of January in Lizard Lick and Wake Forest and again in Spring (like now) for another month or so. Rest of the year I travel or am in Florida.

Weather is a little cooler here than in Florida. Thinking ahead... only 57 more days until I begin my Alaskan Adventure. Plans are still up in the air as to my travel partners. People are fickle...  Spending my days now watching worker-bees tear down a pasture fence then install new posts and wire -- interesting to watch from my deck.

It's such a relaxing day..... I might just take a nap!
