Doctor Called -- I'm Good To Go!

Last Friday, I went for my first annual cancer checkup. There was microscopic blood in my urine. As my cancer involved the bladder there will always be a chance the kidneys will be affected.

Woke up this morning and turned everything over to God (after all what power do I have in these things anyway) then headed out for a CT scan. Doctor just called..... I am Good To Go to Alaska!!

Thank God for Whom All Blessings Flow.

It is hot and very humid in Florida making working inside Yoda III difficult during the day. Am gonna change my Countdown Clock allowing 2 more days to get ready.  Still have maintenance like changing hot water heater anode rod, adding water to batteries, check oil in generator, etc.

New estimated leave date will be Friday, June 2nd (or 3rd at the latest). Still waiting on Tree Guy to call with an estimate on cutting down huge tree in back yard -- looks like I will be taking care of that while on the road.

Again.... I am so happy with my good report.... again.... thank you God!

Best Diet Progam EVER.....

Last Monday morning, started feeling queasy and decided it was due to me skipping breakfast. Evidently, that wasn't it as by early afternoon I was in bed feeling nauseated in hopes if I were still it would go away. Again, I was wrong!

By 4pm the flood gates opened with diarrhea and throwing up.  By 10pm (and time was so slow I thought it was closer to 5am the next morning instead of only 10pm) I had taken 3 showers and no relief. Luckily my trusty housemate/cousin/best helper in bad times, Linda went to the store for Gatorade to keep me hydrated.  Bottom line..... in 24 hours I lost 6 pounds!!!  Best diet program ever.... if you have the stomach for it (literally).

More to come later....... feeling better but still not great. Lost 4 days in getting ready for Alaska trip. Today will slowly begin again.

Oh yeah, still waiting on tree man to give me estimates on cutting down the monster tree in my back yard.

To Cut or Not To Cut -- More Importantly, Can I Afford It?

Seems like I've been planning this trip for a LONG time and it's only 2 weeks away. Ran my generator for an hour yesterday and made a "to do" list for each day until I leave.

My neighbor had a huge tree taken down yesterday and the guys worked 10 hours in his yard. Made me think again about taking down the HUGE tree in my back yard so I asked for an estimate. Power lines go through the tree and it hangs over my RV shed making it tricky to accomplish (increasing the cost). Asked for a couple estimates ranging from entire tree to cutting some of the big limbs facing my house. This is MY tree!

It's hot and humid in Florida and it's only the middle of May. Looking forward to cooler nights as I head toward Canada and Alaska.

Woo Hoo -- 14 more days!!!

Leaving Lizard Lick

Last day in Lizard Lick, going over to Wake Forest this afternoon to spend the week-end with my sister, Dianne, and family. We are celebrating her birthday, her daughter's (Christina) birthday tomorrow night with Mike (Christina's husband) cooking the celebration meal.  Sunday, will drive back home to Live Oak then take 2 weeks getting ready for my Alaskan RV Trip.

Spoke with my Alaska travel partner, Jane, yesterday for the first time. Chatted about things we wanted to do (or not do) on the trip - it was good to put a voice to her. She has another traveling friend that might be able to get her life in order in time to travel to Alaska with us.

It's a damp cool day in Lizard Lick with a storm going through last night and rain expected this afternoon. Not looking forward to dumping the 5th wheel before heading over to Dianne's house. Only drawback with staying in the 5th wheel when I visit -- ya gotta dump about every 7 or so days.

Promised to mow the grass around the RV day before I left and I'm  waiting on the grass to dry just a little or at least the sun to come out.  It's noon and the sun hasn't made an appearance yet. This may be one promise I can't keep as the grass is not just damp it is WET.

Here is a photo of my 5th wheel taken last winter (brown grass).... It's nice and comfortable for me.

Alaskan Adventure - Only 19 days to go...... beginning to get pumped again!!!

Sad Day For Me

Yesterday I learned someone special left this world for Heaven. Elizabeth was my Mom's cousin and best friend growing up, they lived on farms a couple miles apart then stayed in close contact as they both moved away. Mom's died in 2012 and promised during her last week I would continue to pay close attention to Elizabeth when I was in North Carolina. Elizabeth was Mom's last living close relative when she left us in 2012.

During this visit Dianne and I drove to Greensboro visiting Elizabeth in her new residence (senior assisted living) taking a plant on one visit and bird feeder to install outside her window on the next. It's just been 2 weeks since we were all together. Elizabeth was doing so well.... always greeting you with a Bible verse and quoting verses throughout conversations. She lived for the Lord and will always be an example, to me, of a Christian woman -- kind, gentle, caring and in tune with her love of Jesus.

To anyone reading this can tell this has affected me greatly. Not in the mood to think about my Alaskan Adventure or anything else.... just want to be alone with my thoughts. As Elizabeth often greeted:

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it      Psalms 118: 24
